The UK-headquartered cutting kit manufacturer officially unveiled the ColorCut FB1180-T tangential flatbed digital cutter on sister firm Morgana’s stand at The Print Show in September.
According to Intec marketing manager Terri Winstanley, it has already secured a number of sales into a range of production and prototyping environments.
Designed for packaging and POS prototyping and light production work within the packaging and carton-making industries, the FB1180-T can cut a range of corrugated substrates including E/N and F fluted boards.
It features a four-tool head, capable of cutting and creasing media up to 3mm thick. The quad tool head includes two passive contour/drag cut and crease tools plus active tangential tools, a deep cutting tangential blade and tangential crease wheel.
“The great thing about it is that it has four tools, two active at use, and these can be selected for the job in hand,” said Winstanley.
She detailed that users could run the passive drag knife on FBB boards for more accurate and intricate cutting and then the tangential crease wheel to provide a smooth, deep crease. And for cutting thin materials that also require creasing, users could opt for the ball creaser tool with the drag knife or when producing fluted board cartons and POS then the active tangential knife and crease wheel would be selected.
The FB1180-T is driven by Intec’s ColorCut Pro software via a PC in ‘Direct mode’ or standalone in ‘Held mode’ via the flatbed cutter’s internal memory or USB stick.
It features a 7in GUI, 800x1,100mm vacuum table, page edge detection, +/- 125micron cutting accuracy, 2.5kg cutting force and 1,200mm/sec head speed.
The FB1180-T lists for £11,499 and is available from stock from Intec and Morgana, both Plockmatic companies, as well as resellers.
