Heidelberg to unveil new nearline post-press system at HID

Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline can produce a range of finished products in one pass

Heidelberg will hand a world premiere to a new nearline post-press system at the upcoming Hunkeler Innovationdays, where it will also showcase the Jetfire 50 in its new livery.

The manufacturer is sharing a booth with Muller Martini at the event.

It’s exhibit will include a debut for the new Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline post-press system as part of a “digital end-to-end ecosystem”.

The 56 model is for the B3 Jetfire, while the 66 version is for the B2 Jetfire 75 model that is set to be launched this year.

The Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline can be preset automatically from job data in Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow and a range of finished products involving cutting, creasing and folding can be produced in one pass.

Heidelberg chief technology and sales officer Dr David Schmedding commented: “In the industrial printing context, efficient and highly automated postpress operations are vital if production departments are to process a large number of highly diverse orders efficiently and ensure the profitability of digital print production.”

He described the Fireline post-press solution as a key addition to the firm’s offering “taking us a big step closer to end-to-end print production”.

Prinect will also group similar jobs together for efficient output and setup times.

Job formats cited included A3 and A4 posters with full bleed, 4pp pamphlets in A4 portrait and in A5 portrait and landscape, and 8pp A6 products with concertina, parallel, or letter fold.

A Heidelberg spokesperson told Printweek that the Fireline is being shown as a pilot system in order to gain feedback from visitors ahead of an official rollout of the product.

Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025 takes place in Lucerne from 24-27 February.

Heidelberg is exhibiting in Hall 1, Stand P2.
