W2P is available as an added-value service on the online print sales platform, enabling customers to upload designs and artwork with the option of sending it to multiple suppliers.
It has been integrated directly into the PDQ system rather than outsourcing to an existing W2P provider in order to allow the W2P and ordering processes available on PDQ to run as a single process for end-users.
“Printers whose services are currently available on PDQ simply have to opt in to begin offering W2P services to clients through our system,” said Haybrooke chief executive John Roche. “We want to bring value to the printers using our system and this is part of that.
“It makes for a much simpler, integrated process. Printers often use W2P because it makes a client dependent on them as a single supplier by locking in their artwork to the system. Our model proposes a different way where clients can go to multiple suppliers.
“Clients using our system want everything from the simpler business cards and stationery up to complex jobs like multi-pagination or wide-format, but W2P was a common request from clients at the simpler end and so now we can offer that extra value to them.”
Roche said that the initial roll-out was offering W2P in its simplest form by allowing clients to upload artwork templates or use the system’s built in template designer.
Going forward, Haybrooke is set to develop the service further on PDQ Sales Hub by adding more complex attributes such as variable data uploading from spreadsheets and on-the-fly artwork image changes.
