The Llandysul, west Wales-based company has installed the machine along with a ZU804 gatherer.
Gomer Press's KM600 is a high specification machine and has been supplied with hot melt and PUR glue options, as well as inline end-papering. The three-month old machine was repossessed by Kolbus from a collapsed French printer prior to its installation at Gomer.
The Welsh company's desire for an upgrade follows its move into digital production, combined with an increased demand for trade printing a binding work, on top of its 120 title arsenal.
As well as handling increased output, the machine will enable Gomer Press to move into a wider format range, while the PUR option will open the door to high-quality digital products.
Jonathan Lewis, Gomer Press managing director and the great grandson of the company's founder, said: "With our digital output increasing, the Kolbus KM600’s ability to produce short-run products at both high quality and speed is really important to us.
"This capacity, alongside bigger format range, will enable us to process a wider range of books and printed products."
The company, the largest independent publisher in Wales, produces books in both Welsh and English languages. This year Gomer Press celebrates its 120th year in business.
