Luxtreme, an LED conversion kit that can be fitted to any traditional flexo press, can cure labels at up to 200m/min.
The kit uses 30-60% fewer LED lamps to achieve the same radiant intensity as other comparable curers, leading to better registration and less material distortion, Fujifilm said.
Luxtreme can also offer higher radiant intensity than many of its competitors, at up to 25 W/sqcm.
Launched alongside the Luxtreme is Fujifilm's Curemax IDFC inkset, the company’s first ever indirect food contact ink.
A range of gloss LED-UV inks that can also be cured under conventional lamps, Curemax has been specifically developed for printing on food and pharmaceutical packaging with indirect food contact, and accordingly has minimal risk of migration.
The inks are suitable for narrow-web labels, including applications like self-adhesive labels, unsupported films, saturated pouches and shrink sleeves.
Suitable for use on all common synthetic and non-synthetic substrates, they are available as press-ready Pantone-compliant colours.
Steve Wakefield, aftermarket manager at Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems, said: “The launch of CuremaX IDFC marks an exciting time for Fujifilm.
“We’re confident that these inks will enable customers to explore new markets and achieve new standards with confidence. Additionally, the dual cure option offers printers flexibility, no matter what their business requirements are.”
Fujifilm also revealed at the Brussels show that it has signed a partnership deal with Swiss CTP kit manufacturer Lüscher Technologies.
The agreement will see Fujifilm distribute Lüscher’s MultiDX! and Xpose! platesetter models, which offer a range of resolutions up to 10,160dpi.
The manufacturer’s laser diode technology likewise offers infrared imaging for ablative materials such as flexo and letterpress plates and ablative films.
Fujifilm said its existing partnership with Hybrid Software, revealed in April 2023, made the deal especially valuable, as multiple Hybrid RIP options have been developed specifically with Lüscher kit in mind.
David Parker, Fujifilm EMEA’s analogue packaging category manager, said: “Lüscher was a global pioneer in digital imaging for plates, and they’ve gone on to become one of the most respected companies in the field, so they were an obvious choice for us to partner with to ensure that we are offering our analogue customers the very best technological solutions.
“Together with the Hybrid Software RIP options we also have available, our three companies working together provide a unique blend of expertise and experience that will give our customers a real edge in a competitive market.”
Labelexpo Europe concludes tomorrow (14 September).
