The company said the two machines answer a growing demand for ease-of-use combined with high performance in high-volume work. Both new machines will be available from the end of June.
Both will be previewed alongside Flexa’s lamination systems at the Munich show on 14-17 May, with the Plus HD building upon existing Flexa crush knife-based cutting technology on a more robust chassis, while the Plus Buffer uses new motorised lengthwise shear cutters and an integrated buffering system.
“We compete with the best automatic cutting machines on the market,” said marketing manager Barbara Gallo. “But crush knives are something that only Flexa uses.
“We think it’s the best way to cut. Many of our units are installed in industrial environments, working two or three shifts a day cutting special materials such as carbon fibre and glass fibre. Crush knives don’t require daily cleaning, which is necessary on shear cutters. In this way, a single operator can save 30 to 60 minutes per machine per day.
“We hope to achieve great interest in our cutting and lamination solutions and to be recognised as one of the most important players in these two fields. Our aim is to increase our network all around the world and confirm existing relationships with our partners and dealers.”
The Flexa Miura Plus UD can cut media rolls up to 400mm in diameter weighing up to 200kg, at a maximum speed of 1,000m/hr (linear). It is equipped with edge control to allow for perfectly straight cutting and will be shown at Fespa with an optional slimline lengthwise rotary crush cutter and a motorised stacker running in-line.
Developed for in-line cutting, the Plus Buffer is designed for precision-cutting with front-side automatic vertical cutting which realigns all its cutters simultaneously to the edges of the printed image.
Italian manufacturer Flexa’s offering will be found at stand G50, hall B5 at Messe Munich.
