The device, which is available with immediate effect, will be shown at German packaging exhibition FachPack next month.??
The machine enables abrasion-resistant, high-quality labels to be printed at speed, serialised and made available for a wide range of different packaging lines. It also allows the serialisation and dispensing processes to be separated both physically and in time.??
The firm said the already integrated unique code software and drop-on-demand inkjet technology open up a range of options for pharmaceutical manufacturers, packaging and label printing companies to streamline processes associated with serialisation, coding and tamper-evident labelling.
The machine can print and serialise labels at a rate of up to 60m/min, or up to 900 labels per minute or more, depending on the label length. This is a significantly higher production speed than conventional thermal transfer printers, which generally never exceed 15m/min unless printed at significantly lower quality, Atlantic Zeiser said.??
Atlantic Zeiser UK systems development manager Jim Kaye said: “It's a new iteration of an existing product. We've done the near-line unit for some time, which will feed one machine, but because of the high speeds we can run the offline unit at, it could potentially run pre-coded reels on demand to feed several lines, so there's an ongoing benefit.”??
The device, which is based on the German manufacturer's own high performance UV-curable inks, is equipped with an Omega printer, offering a choice of 36, 72 or 144mm print width. It also features a transport system width of up to 165mm.
