Xsys, the company formed by the recent merger between BASF Printing Systems and ANI Printing Inks, claims that the ink will replace the need for packaging printers to screen print an opaque white layer.
Niklas Olsen, Xsys Narrow Web Division global brand manager, said: "It gives converters the opportunity to create non-label-look labels without the need for a rotary screen unit."
The ink, which is designed to print on synthetic substrates, allows speeds up to 120m per min, and has a coverage of 1.5g-3.5g per m2 depending on whether text or solids are being printed.
Olsen added that the ink is compatible with Xsys's other UV-flexo, UV-offset and UV-letterpress inks.
