The 3500 increases the web width from 330mm to 512mm and uses the firm's latest toner, which the company said offered improved light-fastness, food safety and ecological benefits.
"Any extra millimetres that we offer can make a massive difference by optimising substrate use and capacity," said Xeikon labels and packaging business development manager Filip Weymans.
"We believe that the 3500 moves the breakeven point for digital labels beyond the current 4,000 linear metre point."
He added that for some applications, depending on the orientation of the label on the web, the 19.2m-per-minute five-colour press could be more than twice as productive as the 3300, delivering an improvement of 113% in some cases.
The QA-I toner is also food approved for indirect and direct contact with dry goods.
