The latest incarnation of LithoTechnics' software allows users to create an optimised imposition by importing a spreadsheet of job specs, including quantity size and colour, or by linking to an MIS.
Amongst the new features included in Metrix 2010 is an Auto Production tool, which automatically determines the most coft-effective printing method, press and sheet size.
Workflowz managing director Alan Dixon said: "This new release takes imposition planning to the next level. Everyone can benefit in greater efficiencies, less plates and makereadies.
"Regardless of the market - commercial print, magazine or book printers, specialist on-demand, small format or VLF for POS and retail - where ganging is essential, we have the best solution available."
Metrix 2010 also features a new modular architecture and four separate modules - Auto Plan, Capacity Plus, N-Up Binding and Barcodes - that can be added as required to the standard Metrix commercial licence.
Auto Plan determines how many layouts are required to accommodate all the products in a project and can plan and impose simultaneously across multiple sheets and presses.
Capacity Plus is designed for more complex jobs and allows more products to be included in Auto Production and Auto Layout calculations.
N-Up Binding automates the setup of products that print, fold and bind 2- or 3-up on a press sheet, and is aimed at customers who have kit that can accommodate 2- or 3-up binding, such as a book saw or specialised knife-trimmer.
The Barcodes module allows the barcode identification of products and is also used for automated finishing systems and to speed fulfillment and invoicing.
