The council’s print and design department has a £1m turnover and bought the DI press after its previous six-year-old digital printer broke down. It now estimates that it could increase that turnover to £1.4m.
Jerry Priest (pictured), design and print business development manager, said: “The breaking down of our previous machine proved to be a blessing in disguise. In replacing it, our production levels have soared. The Truepress has allowed us to reduce our outsourcing bills by 50%.”
The council has also bought Screen’s Trueflow Rite workflow software to facilitate the handling of data.
Priest added: “The software suite includes an imposition module, streamlining the processes undertaken by the graphics team.”
