Woodford Litho will use the platesetter with Sublima screening, which managing director Simon Fox said would give an almost photographic tonal print quality.
The Xcalibur GLV, which will replace the Witham companys existing Xcalibur, will be used to supply more than 2,000 plates a month to the companys new KBA press. The wide-format Compacta 48pp press will begin print trials in January and should be operational in February.
The combination of the new, high-technology press, and Agfas VLF CTP plus Sublima screening will give the company an undoubted edge over our rivals, said Fox.
The Xcalibur GLV has an imaging system comprising micro shutters that produce individually addressable beams.
