Woodfield moves into folding with buy from TCS

Woodfield Industries has moved into folding with a Challenge Medalist 870 A3 machine from finishing equipment distributor Terry Cooper Services.

Woodfield manager Ivan Pratt said the investment was in response to a customer approaching the company requesting the service, as documents were previously folded by hand.

Pratt said: "The machine is a useful asset to our unit and we have identified a return over time through regular work."

Woodfield, a commercial business set up to provide employment opportunities to people with disabilities, was set up by Nottingham City Council.

Print finishing manager Dee Webster said: "The nature of our staff means the machine had to be safe and simple to operate. Our people have not had any problems."

Employees at the company are also given training in areas such as interviewing and CV creation, with the intention of giving them a smooth transition into full-time employment.

Woodfield Industries employs around 50 staff across a number of fields. Ten of these are in the print finishing department.

Areas covered in the print finishing department range from binding, collating and drilling.
