Varna Printers integrates pre-press with Heidelberg floor

Varna Printers in South West India has added a Suprasetter S-74 with an aim to increasing productivity.

Situated in Kerala, 50-staff Varna Printers was established in 1998 by founder KJ Thomas with a single-colour press.

In 2006, Thomas invested in a four-colour Heidelberg Printmaster 74 and now handles commercial work such as magazines, brochures, posters and notebooks.

Varna's all-Heidelberg shopfloor consists of a Suprasetter thermal CTP, the Printmaster 74 four-colour press, a Polar cutting machine and a folder.

On the subject of the company's latest investment, Thomas said: "One of the unique features of the Suprasetter is the temperature compensation wherein temperature of all components relevant to imaging remains constant.

"This way the imaging of the printing plates always takes place under the same conditions which improves plate remake."

He added: "Investment in equipment speeds up the print production chain. It also ensures quality at all levels and makes every production unit self-reliant."
