Although full details are not currently available, PrintWeek understands that Bean was dining in the Taj Mahal hotel when the terrorists opened fire and sheltered with others in a restaurant at the hotel for more than seven hours before escaping via a window.
SBS said that Bean is now safe in a different part of the city and is clearly looking forward to returning home to be with his family.
In a statement the company said: "All Paul's colleagues within SBS and the wider group are delighted that Paul is safe and look forward to seeing him upon his return."
