Trinity splits Daily Post in micro-zoning move

Newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror has continued its newspaper micro-zoning in Wales, with the Daily Post being split into two editions.

The north Wales regional title will have one edition for the North East and one for the North West of the country from the start of 2011.

According to Trinity Mirror, it will allow each publication to concentrate on local news and features more prominently.

Front pages will be different for each edition, focusing on local news, as well as carrying a number of different news and sport pages.

The move will also see the free weekly newspaper the Denbighshire Visitor cease to be published after today's (20 December) edition.

Trinity Mirror North Wales publishing director Rob Irvine said: "The changes we made to the Daily Post in September when we increased the amount of content and offered more features and comment have been a big hit with readers and advertisers.

"Giving people more news from their local area will certainly build on this firm platform of success and I’m convinced that the launch of these new local editions will be just as well received."
