The Dundee-based trade printing specialist developed its own API, which has been live for about two years. Tradeprint is part of mass customisation giant Cimpress.
The new partnership with Wild Card Software, the developer of Print Logic, will allow its customer base of more than 1,000 users to integrate their systems directly with Tradeprint’s own API.
Tradeprint sales and customer success director Anthony Rowell said the business had used Print Logic for its bespoke quoting service while it built its own integrated system.
“Print Logic is a great tool which helped us while we developed our own bespoke system,” he said.
Print Logic users will gain access to the entire API catalogue and special pricing via the API.
Tradeprint said that other benefits included reduced admin and transactional costs, as well as the ability to manage workloads from within a single software environment.
Rowell said this was increasingly relevant as more printers adopted a “blended model”, combining their own in-house manufacturing facilities with outsourced print management.
“This is all about supporting the Tradeprint Pro print resellers we have as customers. They are experiencing a tough time and integrations like this really help improve efficiencies,” he explained.
“Print Logic is at a great price point and the team there offer a friendly and efficient service. I’d advise any print reseller to contact them for a demo. The Tradeprint API integration with them allows the user access to choice – in-house, Tradeprint or third party fulfiller based on best price options versus best turnaround time.”
Rowell said Tradeprint had around 200 customers connected via the API and, for example, the customer’s own e-commerce platform, using its white label print and ship service.
He said the firm was open to the potential for integrations similar to that with Print Logic with additional partners.
Separately, Tradeprint has beefed up its post-press department with the installation of a new Horizon StitchLiner MKIII from Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS).
It’s an additional system so the firm now has three StitchLiners.
The new 6,000sph system has enhancements including high-capacity VAC-L600H collators with 130mm deep trays, requiring less down time for loading. It can handle digitally-printed jobs in page order.
Tradeprint went to view the MKIII system last year at Horizon’s European demo centre in Germany. The new line was installed in September.
Production manager Peter Richards said the setup was ideal for handling a wide variety of run lengths, while being able to alter speeds and sizes on-the-fly “allows work to continue uninterrupted”.
He said: “We required additional capacity and we wanted to extend the range of products we can produce in house. We have run Horizon StitchLiners previously and, given their good reputation and the quality of product they help us produce, we made the commitment to invest in the StitchLiner MkIII.”
Tradeprint had sales of £15.1m in its most recent accounts, for the year ending 30 June 2019.
