Entries are now open for the Printing Charity’s 2020 Print Futures Awards.

Launched in 2003 and rebranded as Print Futures Awards in 2009, the initiative offers 18-to-30-year-olds the chance to win grants of up to £1,500 to help progress their personal development and careers within the UK printing, publishing, packaging and graphic arts space.

Last year 91 grants were awarded through the programme, making it the single biggest awards scheme in the sector.

“This year we’d like to hear from people who are keen to develop their softer skills such as courses and training for presentation skills, problem solving, and leadership. These are often overlooked but can make a real difference to someone’s development,” explained Printing Charity chief executive, Neil Lovell.

“We know the sector has some great rising stars and Print Futures is the perfect opportunity for companies to support them in their application.”

Applicants must be UK residents and show clear plans for making their first move into the sector or already be working full-time or as an apprentice in a UK-print related organisation and wanting to develop their workplace skills.

Entries should also include specific details of planned training courses, costs and timings. Grants can not be used to pay for employers’ own training costs.

Applicants have until 26 April to complete their online entries, with those shortlisted being interviewed throughout May and June. Winners will be announced at an awards event held in the House of Lords in July.

The Printing Charity anticipates awarding between 90-100 grants again this year.
