The kit, which was installed at the North London-based printer’s 700sqm site around three months ago, was supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems and replaced a Duplo machine that has been sold on.
“We had a perfect binder but demand for digital print has increased so it was time to upgrade,” said managing director Fady Gremesty.
“It’s running nicely. It enhances what we had before and it’s more reliable. This is our third Horizon machine – we also have a StitchLiner and a folder – and we’re really happy with it. We have always been impressed with their build and reliability.
“They are also easy to use and quick to set up. But what stood out for us was the quality and strength of the glue and the robustness of the bind.”
The 500cph BQ-270V offers high-quality perfect binding and on-demand production of variable thickness books.
It includes an automated, sensor-activated digital caliper system which consistently measures book block thickness and automatically transfers this data to the binder for quick, automated set-up for books of different thicknesses.
Established in 1995, The Print Unit turns over £500,000. Also running a five-colour Manroland 305, a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 and a Xerox 700, the business serves local businesses and the retail and charity sectors and also works with the NHS.
