Taylor Bloxham makes publishing move

Commercial printer Taylor Bloxham has moved into publishing after taking on two magazine titles.

The company launched Nimrod Publishing when it bought free-to-market Warwickshire Living and Worcestershire Living following the liquidation of B3 Publishing.

It took on five former B3 employees and is in the process of launching websites for each of the titles.

According to Taylor Bloxham managing director Chris Bowen, the next step will see two more titles launched in November in the Midlands or the South West.

The Leicester-based company also reported that its point-of-sale business, which it launched in February as part of subsidiary business Fastant, had already broken even.

Bowen said that it was launched on the back of customers constantly asking about point-of-sale possibilities, which had to be turned away.

He said: "We brought in expertise in the point-of-sale sector to work alongside the Fastant team. The turnover should be around £1m for point of sale by the end of the year."

The company has also completed its restructuring process, which saw it drop a facility, and is currently ahead of its targets for this year. Its eight-month turnover was £16.5m, compared to a budgeted £15.5m, while pre-tax profit is also above the predicted level.

Thanks in part to the better-than-expected results, the company has begun employing new staff, with Fastant taking on seven new employees and Taylor Bloxham five, on top of the five at Nimrod Publishing. It now employs more than 250 staff.
