Stralfors operates in seven countries including the UK, France, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, with a global turnover of around £300m.
Stralfors UK represents around £20m of the global turnover with a site in Redruth, Cornwall, where it operates out of a 7,000sqm facility, and another 3,300sqm plant in Dartford, Kent.
The UK business employs around 110 people with 35 in Dartford, eight remote and the remainder based in Redruth, according to Stralfors UK managing director Tony Plummer.
He said the UK business had undergone “a minor restructure”, resulting so far in 10 redundancies across both sites.
Plummer said the restructure was now complete and denied any rumours of site closures or further job losses.
He said: “There is absolutely no threat to either site, yes we have done some restructuring but the future is still bright as far as the UK business is concerned.
“This is about efficiencies and new technologies that we have invested in for some major new contracts due to start next year, and have driven out some people costs.
“Restructuring is an ongoing thing for many businesses these days and for Stralfors this is not about losing business it’s about changing how we do business. We will be recruiting more developers and programmers and less production staff because that is the nature of what we do, it’s all about data now.”
In a statement released earlier this week the company said it had identified cost savings in operations, customer service and administration divisions, to provide a leaner and more efficient business.
It stated: “We intend to maintain service to our customers as a priority. Professional services will remain unchanged to support the number of change requests received from customers.
“In operations we are re-organising work processes to enable a number of lower skilled tasks to be handled more efficiently and in customer services we are changing priorities to allow the team to focus more on customers."
The company offers targeted transactional and direct mailing for businesses within the financial services sector, retail, car rental companies and utilities.
Previously offering litho work from its Redruth facility, the bulk of the company’s UK print work is now carried out by its counterparts in France and Poland, while the UK focuses on its digital offering.
“We are a solutions provider now, not just a printed mail business. Rather than just selling what we have got we want to meet clients' requirements and so we work with external partners, such as web-to-print operators, that enable us to provide that.”
Plummer said details would be released in January of a series of new contract wins.
