One of the new papers is InnoPress, a lightweight uncoated quality suitable for magazines, catalogues and brochures, that bridges the gap between lightweight coated (LWC) papers and supercalendered (SC) grades.
InnoPress will be produced at the Reisholz mill in Dsseldorf, Germany, but Kvarnsveden in Sweden will also contribute to production from 2006.
The other new grades are SilvaPress, a machine finished magazine paper at the top end of the range, with high brightness, smoothness and gloss, produced at the Summa mill in Finland. MagniPress Bulky is a bulky SC grade, produced to the wishes of magazine publishers, retailers and advertisers to cut costs, while adding a new glossy smoothness to the market.
Press Selection is produced at 15 of Stora Enso's European paper mills, and the developments will include an as yet undecided increase in production volumes.
This will happen once PM12 starts up at the end of the year at the Kvarnsveden mill.
A number of existing Press Selection grades, NovaPress, TerraPress and NeoPress have also undergone improvements.
UK divisional director for publication papers Fabian Langenskild said the new brands reflected current market demand and will offer customers more versatility and consistent quality.
"When this is put together with the considerable production capacity increase we are creating and our multi-mill service strategies, we can offer a lot from one single source of supply," he said.
