The GPMU's pay dispute with St Ives Web Division looks to be reaching a
conclusion, with a pay agreement to be voted on today by workers at Caerphilly.
Workers at the other
sites involved in the
dispute - Plymouth, Andover, Peterborough and Roche - have agreed a standard percentage agreement. They have also agreed productivity-related improvements, which will be different at each plant.
St Ives sales director
Paul Utting said the
settlement was "not far away" from what the group had initially put on the table to the GPMU. The dispute started two months ago (PrintWeek, 6 October), but in recent weeks settlements have gradually been agreed.
GPMU general president Ray Williams said he was "well pleased" with the settlement. "It's been a lot of hard work," he added.
The two parties also resolved a dispute at Caerphilly over redundancies and normal working resumed there on 13 November.
