The flatbed printer was installed in the summer at the company’s Edinburgh head office by HP reseller Adapt. It was purchased to accompany a CNC cutting machine installed around 10 months ago and also joins an existing HP Latex 570.

The R1000 is a hybrid machine, enabling printing direct to substrate and from roll media. It offers a single set of inks for a range of media, including applications for retail, outdoor signage, window graphics, events and exhibitions and decorations.

Its versatility, cost-effectiveness, and print quality made it the right fit for Specialized Signs, the company said.

Managing director Graham Sim said: “No other machine we looked at could justify the ROI compared to what the HP R1000 can produce, how quickly it can produce it, the quality, the price, and the cost of inks.”

He also mentioned the machine’s eco-friendly credentials as “a major selling point”.

Specialized Signs employs 24 staff and serves commercial customers across the UK. The company predicts that the R1000 will help double its business in the next five years.
