Skymark recently produced a trial batch of 25 micron embossed aprons and met with positive feedback.
It is now set to manufacture 100,000 of the aprons in the next ten days.
The aprons will be produced at the company’s Scunthorpe site, using its cast micro-embossed film technology and Biomaster antimicrobial technology.
The poncho-style garment is designed so that it can be quickly put on and taken off, while its tie back allows it to be easily secured.
Paul Glover, commercial technical director at Skymark, said: “The combined creativity and innovation of our team has enabled us to take this project from idea to fruition, through our design and qualification process, within a few days.
“We have extensive experience of supplying the healthcare sector and our staff have shown amazing dedication and worked hard in recent weeks to keep our business open during this challenging period.
“Everyone is touched by the Covid-19 crisis and as a business we were keen to support our brave health workers in any way that we could.”
Independent manufacturer Skymark is known for supplying the hygiene, medical, and food sectors with embossed, plain, and printed flexible films.
It also has a plant in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
