Tall Security Prints Runcorn division has been shortlisted for an award for best medium-sized firm in next months Cheshire Business Awards. The 104-staff firm upped annual turnover by a 10%, said managing director Martin Ruda.

Sherwood Technology has launched its latest DigiVU product to combat counterfeiting. OVD, the overt security feature for protecting brands, applies chemicals to metallic substrates, which are then activated by laser from a hologram-type image.

Chris Rogers, managing director of struggling textile print firm Stead McAlpin, has left the company in Carlisle. It said he'd left to "pursue his career outside the partnership". Rogers joined in 2002 but failed to halt a multimillion pound slide in profits.

Freedom of Information laws may force printers to disclose finance details, the BPIF is reiterating after a case involving pictures shown in an exhibition. The case centred on finance data on payments for pictures at the National Maritime Museum. BPIF head of legal Anne Copley warned printers against releasing information to public authorities in tenders because it could be given to anyone.
