Sarah Tunstall, PPA chief operating officer, will oversee day-to-day management of the organisation until a chief executive is appointed and Eric Verdon-Roe, previously managing director of Haymarket Media Group, has agreed to act as a consultant.
PPA chairman Peter Phippen said: "It is felt that PPA's next phase of development should be conducted under a new
chief executive."
In August, reports emerged claiming that the PPA faced the loss of more than 10% of its members after around 30 UK customer magazine publishers said they were resigning their memberships.
Shephard ousted from PPA position
PPA chief executive Jonathan Shephard has stepped down with immediate effect less than a year and a half after taking up the post.
