The Mini Sigma-Nip, which derives from the Sigma-Nip, measures roller profiles and diagnoses roll alignment quickly, accurately and cost-effectively.
US-based Sensor Products said the Mini Sigma-Nip could measure nip widths of rolls with circumferences smaller than 52cm, as well as larger hard rollers that have narrow contact upon closing.
Each finger on the Mini Sigma-Nip is comprised of 168 microscopic sensor points, packed into an 8.4cm active sensing area.
These capture data and record nip width readings, which are then fed to a computer where they can be viewed in real time.
Sensor Products said the system could help prevent uneven material pulling, sheet walking, wrinkles, jams and print misregistration, as well as costly web breaks.
Sensor Products launches smaller nip measuring tool
Sensor Products has announced the release of the Mini Sigma-Nip, an electronic nip analysis system that yields extremely high resolution for the measurement of smaller nips.
