Screen uses Fespa kit to support social change through football

Screen is flagging up a charity initiative that aims to use football to bring about social change in South Africa.

It worked with Dutch-based Printvlak to produce 20 prints of children playing football. Photographer Robin Utrecht shot the pictures for the Stars in their Eyes initiative.

Printvlak produced the 80x120cm prints directly on to 4mm rigid plastic sheets on its Truepress Jet2500UV flatbed digital printing system.

Screen product manager Rob Hageman said his firm donated the inks, while transparent Vivak material was supplied by Vink Kunststoffen.

The prints are on show throughout the World Cup at Schipol airport in the Netherlands.

Screen is showing off the Truepress Jet2500UV combination roll-to-roll and flatbed kit at Fespa alongside the Truepress Jet1600UV dedicated flatbed machine.

Marketing manager Tim Taylor said: "The show is about market awareness for us, not necessarily signing orders. We are relatively new to the wide-format market."

He said: "Ipex is very different from Fespa. People serious about wide format will come to Fespa regardless of their presence at Ipex. Fespa has a more community-like feel."
