Newport-based Lexon has bought this new high-speed version of the Truepress Jet 3200UV to complement two existing Screen Truepress Jet 2500UV machines, and it forms part of an overall £1.5m investment that has also seen the company start construction of a new pallet warehouse and invest in a new five-colour Komori printer, a Lamina litho laminator and an automatic gluing line.
“We were really looking for a true flatbed. We are going from a flat out 60 sqm/hr machine to 150 sqm/hr,” said director of Lexon Benn Davis, reporting that the new machine would help sustain the 40% growth the firm has achieved over the last three years.
The printer will be used to produce a “diverse range of work” including Foamex and corrugated jobs, floor standing units and hanging signage. Lexon customers range from retail clients to those in the public sector.
Screen president Brian Filler commented that there were quite a few further Truepress Jet 3200UV HS sales in the pipeline for Fespa. “It’s fair to say there will be several more announcements at the show,” he said.
Vice president of sales at Screen Europe Bui Burke added that: “On the basis of all the responses we’ve had since releasing the product, we’ll double our original overall sales targets for the machine.”
Of the target market for the new model Burke reported: “There are a lot of people who started with a small machine, got a slightly bigger one and are now at the point where they’re looking for this.”
“There are also people who bought a big machine five or six years ago that could do 40 sqm/h in quality mode. So their customers expect that quality but they need to boost speed.”
He added: “We’ve had a tremendous response to this machine. It’s the right time for it.”
The list price of the Screen Truepress Jet 3200UV HS is 395,000 euros (£321,347).
