According to Screen, the latest addition to its platesetter line-up boasts superior reliability and quality compared to its predecessor, the PlateRite 8800S, as well as flexibility to meet a variety of different requirements.
"This new generation is better for the environment, better for production and better for your pocket," said Screen Europe marketing manager Tim Taylor.
"The trend is towards lower run lengths, but more jobs with more colour. This leads to a need for even greater plate volumes so Screen has increased productivity on all new models and ensured the full range of automated options that support high plate volumes is available."
Screen said development for the PlateRite 8000N series focused on improving speed and reducing power consumption in both the platesetters and peripheral devices such as autoloaders.
According to Screen, the PlateRite 8000N-S can output 36 plates per hour, representing a 12.5% productivity boost over the PlateRite 8800S. In addition, the new model uses 28% less energy per plate.
In a bid to improve flexibility, all models in the PlateRite 8000N series can support a range of plate sizes from a minimum of 304x370mm up to a maximum of 1,160x940mm. All models use Screen's Spekta2 AM/FM hybrid screening.
The PlateRite 8000N range is available now and will be demonstrated for the first time at Ipex, from 18-25 May at the NEC, Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Agfa, which has an OEM partnership agreement with Screen covering 4-up, 8-up and VLF equipment, has announced the launch of the Avalon N8 platesetter series.
This offers the same benefits as the new Screen range, including the same increase in productivity and reduction in electricity consumption.
