In a formal notification, Japan-headquartered Screen said that it had signed a share transfer agreement with Agfa for the Inca Digital Printers Ltd business in Cambridge, as well as its sister company Screen GP IJC Ltd.
Development and manufacturing of the print engine for BHS Corrugated’s inline corrugator sits within Screen GP IJC, which had sales of £4.8m in the year to 31 March 2021.
Screen GP IJC focuses on R&D and has operated on a cash-plus recharge basis with its parent company Screen Graphic Solutions.
The BHS Corrugated RSR (Roll to printed Sheet in Real time) high-volume printer runs at up to 300m/min with a width of up to 2.8 metres, and using food safe inks and varnishes.
The transfer price was not disclosed.
Regarding future plans for its Graphic Solutions business, known as Screen GA, Screen stated: “Going forward, Screen GA will continue to enhance its corporate value by accelerating growth in the digital printing fields of transaction / direct mail, publishing printing, commercial printing, flexible packaging as well as labels, and exerting synergistic effects with the recurring business.”
