"Customers gave us the feedback that they wanted improved quality and productivity, so we’ve upgraded the machine to six colours plus white, which is field upgradable," said European product manager Rob Hageman.
The white option is proving to be a must-have for most customers, according to Screen UK managing director Brian Filler, as firms produce more work on coloured and transparent substrates.
Transparent substrate work is becoming more important according to the firm as printers seek to replace photographic technologies such as the Durst Lambda with UV inkjet.
In Japan we have a customer who bought the 2500 for photographic quality backlits and is now producing huge backlits in a single piece, added Hageman.
He claimed the 2500’s 1,500dpi resolution and variable droplet size combined with Screen’s screening technology from commercial print provided the firm with a quality advantage, as rival suppliers began to promote their machines for these applications.
