It comes as part of a 22m investment programme at the plant. The new kit will be installed in its mailroom, which is undergoing a "radical update".
The Ferag equipment, supplied by WRH Marketing, will blend heatset with coldset through the Ferag Unidrum commercial gatherer stitcher. Its heatset material is pre-printed on a Goss Universal press.
"The Ferag offers a much smaller footprint than other options," said Caledonian Offset production director Brian Marshall.
The Scotsman managing director Steven Walker added: "The overriding factor that influenced our decision was the speed of the Ferag machine's stitch-trimming drum, which is a much faster on-line stitch-trimming system."
