Sales prompt 1st Byte to buy Horizon sheet feeder

1st Byte is to add a Horizon HOF-30 sheet feeder to its booklet production line.

The move follows a 10% increase in sales over the past year.
"As demand for variable data work increases, our advanced pre-press and digital printing systems can cope," said managing director Lawrence Dalton.

"It's the finishing that needed fine-tuning." The 27,000sph feeder, one of only a handful in the UK, will fully automate the firm's bookletmaking. "At present pages are being put into the stitch unit by hand so the HOF-30 will make it all a lot speedier," said Dalton (pictured with production manager Russell Cunningham).

The 22,000 feeder, which will be installed in August, will be used inline with the firm's existing VAC PowerCollating book production line. Included in the deal is a Horizon barcode tracking system, which will enable the firm to track every page of a job.
