Carter died peacefully at home on 18 September. He was 80. 

He began his printing industry career as an apprentice printer. Subsequently he moved to become a sales representative at William Caple in Leicester.  

He went on to hold senior sales and sales director roles at Artisan Press, Allan Denver Web Offset, Graphoprint and finally set up his own business RSC Print. He retired around 16 years ago. 

Former colleague Vic Rollinson commented: “I worked with Roger at Allan Denver and Graphoprint where he was a major driving force on the sales front with both companies. We remained good friends after our retirements.

“Through his distinguished and successful career, he always had a good sense of fun. Loved his golf and a pint. He recently went to stay with his family in Spain. We spoke on the day he flew out. Discussing all the red tape with PCR tests etc. We planned to see each other in the next week or so. Now it will be at his funeral. He will be sadly missed.”

Philip Ogden, ex Watmoughs and Graphoprint director, added: “Roger was loved by his clients and always went the extra mile to provide the best service.”

Carter is survived by his daughter Sarah, son Nick, two grandsons and a great granddaughter.

His family said: “Roger was an avid follower of sport, any sport in fact, but throughout his life he played golf. He was well known for his quick witty conversation, generous personality, and love and pride of his family.”

The funeral will be held on Wednesday 13 October at 2pm, at St Mary’s Church, Ashby Magna, Leicestershire.
