The Torquay-based self-adhesive labels producer took delivery of the Lintec LPM 300 iTP in September. Sourced from Greece for £50,000, the additional press was commissioned by ABG International.

Director Peter Burnard told Printweek: “We had the recovery loan from the government sat in the bank doing nothing, and we had feelers out for a press because we know the other one very well.

“It allows us to run our six-colour as a four-colour process press plus two spot colours, and this five colour we’ll keep more or less standard as a spot colour press.”

He added: “We got another Lintec because we know the press inside out, all the tooling is the same as the one we’ve got and there’s no extra training involved because it’s literally like-for-like. It produces very good work semi-rotary to full-rotary, and it’s got the computerised inking system on both presses, with which you can save the ink profiles for job repeats.”

Burnard estimated the return on investment would likely be achieved in around a year.

The company also operates kit including a Compress toner-based digital label printer, a hot foil press, and a cutter/slitter/rewinder for plain label work.

With five staff and an annual turnover between £500,000 and £700,000, Riviera Labels serves agricultural, cosmetics, food, and beer and wine clients among others from its circa-280sqm site.

The environmentally conscious business runs 111 30kW solar panels and LED lighting throughout the factory.
