The Ricoh Aficio MP CW2200SP, which will be commercially available by autumn, is targeted at a variety of industries, including manufacturing, architecture, engineering, construction, planning authorities and product design.
The manufacturer said it had identified increasing demand for on-demand colour prints in the CAD market, which has traditionally been served by black and white devices.
The MP CW2200SP, which runs at print speeds of up to 1.8 A0/min mono, and 0.6A0/min colour, also includes an in-built colour scanner which allows customers to digitise hand-drawn documents and archive older documents.
It has a maximum print width of 914mm for prints larger than A0 size and suction-fed paper handling to ensure that paper is loaded more easily.
Gareth Parker, Ricoh’s value proposition manager for production print, said: "The MP CW2200SP is a natural extension to our wide-format range and also demonstrates our commitment to production print.
"It features instant dry technology and it is splash proof plus the ink will have UV protection which will protect documents from fading."
Other machines that Ricoh will be demonstrating include the Pro C751 digital colour cut sheet presses, the InfoPrint 5000 VP full colour continuous feed platform, the Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition along and the Ricoh TotalFlow portfolio.
Ricoh is creating a "personalised experience" for guests who pre-register at www.ricoh-europe.com/drupa2012; they will be recognised via QR code technology and will have the opportunity to benefit from a bespoke and interactive journey around the stand.
Ricoh Europe vice president Peter Williams said: "There is no doubt that printing companies need to make changes in today’s new market realities. And there are many new trends towards targeted marketing campaigns, print on demand and just-in-time delivery – all opportunities for businesses to take full advantage of now and in the future."
The manufacturer’s booth will be divided into zones with themes including marketing, packaging, publishing, transactional and enterprise. Each zone will feature Ricoh customers who will discuss how they have expanded their offering to include new digital print applications and services.
Ricoh is also set to have an environmental zone where it will discuss its new Carbon Balanced Printing Programme, an initiative designed to help printers to reduce the environmental impact of printing when using Ricoh production systems, while providing a carbon neutral service to their clients.
The new programme follows a three step process, which includes: helping printers to analyse the carbon footprint of each print job; optimisation of the print environment; and neutralising unavoidable emissions through carbon credits.
