Question mark over ASG Slough

ASG Worldwide is understood to be consulting with employees over the closure of its Slough operation.

The company declined to comment, but PrintWeek understands that employees have been told that the site will shut down at the end of the month.

A number of workers at the business have already found jobs elsewhere, while some are actively searching for new roles.

One Slough employee described themselves as: “Looking for a new opportunity as the company has recently announced a planned closure.”

Slough (formerly AGI Media Packaging) has historically specialised in multi-media packaging, such as CD and DVD packs.

Four-and-a-half years ago ASG shut its Swindon operation and merged that into Slough, with a remit to diversify its packaging offering into other areas, such as high-end consumer packaging for personal care products.

At the time it had sales of more than £20m.

The group also carried out some restructuring at the site at the beginning of 2016.

Slough is ASG’s only production site in the UK, although it also has a brand management and creative studio in London. Its other European operations are in Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy, Austria and Poland.
