The business increased its factory floor footprint from around 1,800sqm to more than 2,800sqm, following the move this Christmas, from Willenhall to Wednesbury around 10 miles away.
“This move will really give us scope for further development and investment this year especially as we have expanded well over the past couple of years. We had some money in the coffers that has allowed us to complete this move,” said sales director Giles Foden.
Foden said that as part of an ongoing investment strategy, the £3m-turnover Heidelberg house, which employs 32 people, was looking to invest in a new press this year, although he didn’t specify what that might be.
“We’ll definitely stick to litho, particularly with the volumes that we are running,” he said. “Everything we have here including our in-house pre-press gear is set up for litho – it’s what we specialise in. We run jobs from 2,000 to 200,000 and although that’s a huge gap we are competitive and able to service those markets well.”
Quantum manufactures printed and plain carton packaging, point-of-sale and blister cards for a range of industries including DIY, sports nutrition, pet care and automotive.
Foden said: “This is an exciting new chapter for Quantum and the business will now be able to continue our sustainable expansion. The new factory gives us the opportunity to plan a production layout that gives us a seamless workflow from start to finish, reducing our downtime.”
He added that as a result of the move the new layout would improve turnaround times, increase flexibility and supplier capacity.
