Printhas plans a three-way merger

Northamptons Printhas is finalising a merger with two local firms, Solo Print Finishing and the small digital printer Mailhouse.

All three companies will work from the town's Moulton Park Industrial Estate. A spokesman for Printhaüs said it was too early to give any more details for legal and accounting reasons.

Printhaüs’ owner, DSR Group, has taken on Solo Print Finishing managing director Andrew Seymour (pictured) as a print-finishing consultant.

Solo is still currently operating independently, said Seymour. "I sold for the security of the staff and to try and smooth out the peaks and troughs of an independent print finisher," he added.

Seymour was unsure of future plans but said that DSR Group was aiming to expand and had added around five staff to Solo's original roll call of 35.

Some of the staff at Mailhouse have moved from a nearby industrial estate to Moulton Park, with the rest due to follow shortly.

Printhaüs relocated from Round Spinney to the industrial estate about one month ago. It has also bought a 10-colour Heidelberg, previously owned by Eclipse Colour Print in Kettering, which Eclipse removed this summer after buying a 12-colour and a 10-colour Speedmaster 102 at Ipex. Other kit includes Heidelberg GTOs and more Speedmasters.

DSR Group was formed in 1991 as a print management firm and its projected sales to December 2001 were £25m.
