The Blackpool-based commercial printer made the decision to shore up its folding line with the Horizon AFC566FKT to tackle its complex, short-run work.
Adam Ray, managing director at the 25-staffed operation, said the company had now stopped subcontracting out any folding work, whereas "six months ago, all the complex jobs were sent out".
He told printweek.com that the folder provided the firm with a greater ability to meet the demand for faster turnaround, while "eliminating the hidden costs involved in outsourcing".
The printer has been impressed with the folder's 200-job on-board memory, its icon-based, colour touchscreen and the 17 standard fold patterns, which include roll fold and zigzag fold.
Ray added that the mini-concertina fold is "perfect for the work we do, such as folded guides for a variety of agencies".
He said: "We have a great CTP, great front end, great middle and this equipment gives us a great back end too."
The Horizon AFC566FKT folder joins a finishing battery that includes a Heidelberg Stahlfolder and a Duplo 4000 and 5000 stitching line.
Print Plus boosts its finishing line-up with a Horizon folder
