The Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerp, a print works dating from the Renaissance, was added to the organisation's list of protected sites at a meeting last week in Durban, South Africa. Unesco said that the museum, whose name refers to Christophe Plantin, a prolific printer of the second half of the 16th century, had "outstanding architectural value".
As well as a raft of printing equipment, the print works, which remained in business until 1867 before becoming a museum, houses a library and an art collection including one Rubens painting.
The list also included the colonial town centre of Cienfuegos in Cuba.
