Print 09 to feature DIY vehicle wrapping demo space

US print show Print 09 is debuting a DIY wrap area called Rap City, where volunteers can get hands-on advice on installing vehicle wraps.

Rap City is sponsored by Mimaki, vinyl film manufacturer Oracal and finishing company GBC and will take up a 10x17m space within the Wide Format Pavilion at the show.

Industry expert David King will lead two sessions each day offering tips and guidance on getting the most out of the vehicle wrapping and oversized installation markets.

GASC/NPES director of communications Debbie Vieder said: "A commercial vehicle will be used to demonstrate a variety of different looks. In addition, there will be hands-on demonstrations of window wraps and wall coverings.

"Rather than a one-at-a-time or a structured school-format, volunteers of the audience will work together on various elements.

"The daily education sessions will not be ‘sit down’ presentations—but rather interactive sessions designed to impart best practices for: how to produce, how to make money with these products, and how to reduce waste."

Print 09 will run from 11-16 September 2009 at the McCormick Place exhibition center in Chicago.
