Presstek is adding extra plate manufacturing capacity to meet the increase in demand it expects for its Anthem processless plate.
"Right now we have 100 sites using Anthem. We expect to quadruple that by this time next year," said vice president of sales and marketing Efrem Lieber.
To meet demand a new plate line is being built. It is expected to begin production next summer. Presstek is also looking to add manufacturing outside the US including Europe and the Pacific Rim.
The manufacture of the Dimension platesetter range will be balanced with the volume of plates available.
"We'll deliver dozens in the next quarter - at least eight per month," claimed Lieber.
UK dealer Graphics & Offset Plates (GOP) has seen a lot of interest in Presstek processless CTP since it took on the product. It claimed that the 12-per-m2 list price of the Anthem was very competitive when customers weighed up the total costs of running a processor.
Lieber professed to being "very, very pleased" with the progress GOP had made.
