The first issue of the 56-page magazine goes out today with a circulation of 400,000 and will be distributed across London, Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham.
The deal also means that the printer will start printing ShortList Media's other weekly title ShortList from next year, which had an ABC for the first half of 2009 of 510,000, meaning the printer will produce nearly a million copies a week for the publisher. ShortList was previously printed by Prinovis.
FMG, which currently handles repro work on ShortList will now add Stylist to its portfolio.
Further detail of the contract was not available but Polestar marketing director James Povey said: "It's good news for Varnicoat. We've been working strategically on Varnicoat to build its profile, and this supports that strategy."
The company recently landed the work for two Bauer magazines, Bella and That's Life, at the Varnicoat site.
Povey added: "We are really pleased to be starting a new working relationship with the ShortList Media team on such a scale. These titles are great for Polestar Varnicoat because they complement the site’s existing portfolio of high profile weekly gravure titles so well - both from a quality and scheduling perspective."
ShortList Media chief executive Mike Soutar said: "We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Polestar on the launch of Stylist. We were very impressed by the Polestar team’s commitment to high quality and service and look forward to building a strong, long-term relationship with them."
It is unclear whether the additional work affect's Polestar's plans to cut jobs across a number of its sites, including Varnicoat.
