The Italian digital printer, which serves the UK market, has built upon its outsourced litho service launched earlier this year, and has now taken delivery of the Komori at its Marghera production facility.
With the new investment, the company can bring litho jobs in-house while keeping a greater degree of control on costs.
According to Matteo Rigamonti, managing director at Pixart.it, the press spend was a response to increasing demands for offset litho print.
He said: "With this in-house litho production capacity, we can now ensure we maintain print quality and control over production times for longer run work, both of which are so essential to our core proposition."
The company, which has more than 50,000 clients, has coupled the investment with the installation of a Basysprint automatic CTP platesetter.
Its new setup forms the centre piece of the printer's litho offering, while it also plans to build its digital portfolio further with new equipment in the coming months.
He said: "Pixart.it has always been a company that will invest in the right and most innovative technology to meet its customers' demands and enable us to achieve the optimum price/quality ratio."
