The print management contract includes the production of items such as leaflets, marketing pamphlets and posters, with run lengths varying from 50 to 200,000.

Pitney Bowes declined to comment on which printers will be used, but said a roster of its suppliers will be chosen.

Harvey Forsythe, head of print management at PBMS, said: "We are delighted to be awarded this contract, providing further proof of Pitney Bowes' expertise in delivering credible, flexible document processing solutions within the public sector.

"The platform of creative planning, high-quality design and dynamic execution will ensure that the council's communications are creative, consistent and professional in appearance – while also introducing significant cost efficiencies."

Faye Scadden, communications group manager at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: "PBMS provides us with a compelling blend of sector expertise and the ability to enhance efficiency and drive down cost. In time, we hope to transform our print and design services into a centre of excellence that will attract users from other councils."

Pitney Bowes recently agreed a distribution deal with finishing equipment supplier Graphic Arts Equipment (GAE).
