The mailing and inserting specialist will pay 23.1m ($41m) for the UK-based firm.
"Emtex helps us fill a critical gap between document creation and mail finishing operations in large production mail environments," said Pitney Bowes chairman and chief executive Michael Critelli.
"We are excited about playing a role in Pitney Bowes' vision for providing more software, services and solutions to high volume mailers," said Emtex president and general manager Tim Moylan.
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of March.
Emtex's software includes JDF and JMF compliant print-on-demand and transactional print workflow OptionSuite, and VIP, a product to translate between different print streams. It is a partner of Xerox and Kodak Versamark.
