The new platform, which will be showcased to customers at Pitney Bowes' Document Messaging Technologies offices in Danbury, Connecticut in June, combines Pitney Bowes' high-speed inserters and software solutions with Sitma Machinery's innovative wrap solution.
Based in Spilamberto, Italy, Sitma Machinery has more than 8,000 systems worldwide providing high quality line for magazines, newspapers as well as the mailing industry.
In an interview with PrintWeek, Grant Miller, Pitney Bowes vice president of global strategic product management and North American sales to the Document Messaging Technologies division, says the partnership will provide direct mail producers with better cost controls, as well as enable more effective messaging.
"Part of our strategy to combine key partnerships with companies such as Sitma, with in-house and OEM solutions in order to bring together best of breed technology and efficiencies," Miller adds. "For example, one of the biggest inefficiencies is having to buy a lot of pre-printed shells and envelopes-this is one of the things we're speaking to with our white paper factory concept, where all a company needs to bring in is white paper and finished mail comes inline. By merging of a couple of different technologies into a tight web single line, we can provide higher quality printing."
Miller says Sitma Machinery's wrapping solution will help increase work cell efficiency and provide flexibility within jobs, noting, "We have direct marketers and transaction companies looking to us to provide more solutions," adding that includes chief marketing officers coming in and showing them their ROI as they look for ways to better it.
